The purpose of this policy is to inform users of the Skatespace website and registration platform about the following:
the personal information we collect;
the purposes for which we use it;
the individuals and organizations who have access to it;
how long we keep it;
the rights of the individuals concerned;
our use of cookies.
This policy complies with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (CQLR, chapter P-39.1), as amended by the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information (Law 25).

Any question, or any request for access, correction or withdrawal of consent, may be addressed to her at that address.
When you visit the website or the registration platform, we may collect:
your IP address;
your browser type and operating system;
the date, time and duration of your visit;
the pages viewed and links clicked;
the referring website address, if applicable;
the display language you selected.
This information is used to operate and secure the service and to measure traffic. Audience measurement is activated only if you have consented to it through the cookie preferences window.
When you create an account and register for an activity, we collect:
About the student: first name, last name, date of birth, email address, preferred language and, optionally, pronouns.
About the emergency contact: first name, last name and telephone number.
About the legal representative, where the student is a minor: first name, last name, relationship to the student, email address and telephone number.
About consents: the nature of each consent given or refused, the date and time, and the version of the document accepted.
Pronouns are collected solely so that instructors may address the student appropriately. They are not used for any other purpose and are not used for any segmentation.
Photographs and video may be taken during classes and events. They may show students in an identifiable manner and are used to promote Skatespace activities.
Skatespace never associates the name of a minor student with their image.
Skatespace does not collect information concerning health, allergies, medical conditions or medication.
Skatespace does not collect or store any banking or credit card information. Payments are made by Interac e-Transfer or in cash. In the case of an Interac e-Transfer, we receive only the sender's name and email address as transmitted by the financial institution.
The information you provide is used to:
create and manage your account;
process course registrations and confirm their validity;
obtain and record the authorization of the legal representative where the student is a minor;
communicate with you about classes (schedules, changes, cancellations, make-up classes);
contact the emergency contact if needed during an activity;
collect and track amounts owing;
meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations;
photograph and film activities in order to promote them, on the terms described in the "Consent" section;
send you promotional communications, only where you have separately consented.
We do not use your information for other purposes without informing you and, where the law requires it, without obtaining your consent.
Age is determined from the date of birth provided and is verified at each registration.
Under 14 years of age. Online registration is not available. The person holding parental authority or guardianship must contact Skatespace directly at info@skatespace.ca to register the child. In accordance with the law, consent to the collection, use and communication of the personal information of a child under 14 is given by that person.
Aged 14 to 17. The student may create an account and begin a registration. That registration becomes valid only once it has been expressly confirmed by the person holding parental authority or guardianship, through a link sent to the email address provided. This confirmation is time-stamped and retained as proof.
The legal representative's information is collected solely to enable that authorization, to ensure the student's safety and for billing purposes.
By creating an account and completing a registration, you consent to the collection and use of the information described in this policy for the purposes set out herein.
Use of images. By completing a registration, whether through the platform or directly with Skatespace, you consent to Skatespace photographing and filming the student during activities and to the use of those images to promote its classes and events, in particular on its website and social media. The images are not used for any other purpose and are neither sold nor transferred to third parties.
This consent may be withdrawn at any time, without justification and without any effect on access to classes, using the option provided in your account or by writing to info@skatespace.ca. Withdrawal takes effect upon receipt: no further images of the student will be published, and Skatespace will remove, within a reasonable time, images already published on the platforms it controls.
Where the student is a minor, this consent rests with the person holding parental authority or guardianship, who may withdraw it in the same manner.
Promotional communications. Consent to promotional communications is separate and optional. Refusing it has no effect on access to classes. It may be withdrawn at any time, either through the unsubscribe link included in every mailing or by writing to info@skatespace.ca.
Skatespace personnel. Only those individuals who need the information in the performance of their duties have access to it. Instructors have access to the information necessary to supervise classes and ensure student safety.
Service providers. Skatespace uses the following providers, which act as mandataries and use the information solely to perform their services:
Supabase : database and authentication. Processed in Canada (ca-central-1 region).
Vercel : application hosting. Processed in Montréal, Canada (yul1 region).
Zoho : customer relationship management and communications. Processed in Canada (Montréal and Toronto).
Resend : transactional email delivery. Processed in the United States.
Google : audience measurement and embedded content. Processed in the United States.
Skatespace does not sell or rent your personal information. We do not disclose it to any other third party, except where required by law, where required for legal proceedings, or where necessary to establish or protect our rights.
If you follow a hyperlink to another website, we have no control over that website's privacy practices.
Most of our providers process and store information in Canada.
Two exceptions must be noted:
Resend, which delivers our transactional emails, is a United States company. Email metadata (recipient address, subject line, delivery logs) is stored in the United States.
Google, where you consent to audience measurement or view embedded content, processes the corresponding information in the United States.
Before any communication of information outside Québec, Skatespace conducts a privacy impact assessment to ensure that the information will receive adequate protection.
We keep information only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, after which we destroy or anonymize it.
Registration file and contact information : 7 years after the last registration.
Attendance records : 3 years.
Incident report involving a minor : until the student's 21st birthday.
Proof of consent and version accepted : as long as the registration file.
Consent to promotional communications : until withdrawal, then 3 years of inactivity.
Photographs and video used for promotion : until consent is withdrawn.
Technical logs and cookies : 13 months.
Skatespace takes reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information: encryption of communications through HTTPS/TLS, encryption of data at rest with our hosting providers, access control on a least-privilege basis, account authentication, and logging of administrative access.
However, given the very nature of the Internet as a public network, the security of transmissions cannot be absolutely guaranteed.
Skatespace maintains a register of confidentiality incidents. In the event of an incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we promptly notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the individuals concerned, in accordance with the law.
Skatespace does not make any decision based exclusively on the automated processing of personal information.
You have the right to:
be informed of the existence of the information we hold about you and to access it;
have inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous information corrected;
withdraw your consent to any optional use, in particular promotional communications;
receive, in a structured and commonly used technological format, the computerized information you provided to us, or request that it be communicated to a third party;
request that the dissemination of information cease or that a hyperlink be de-indexed, in the cases provided for by law;
file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
Where the request concerns a minor under 14 years of age, it must be made by the person holding parental authority or guardianship.
Send your written request to info@skatespace.ca, to the attention of the person in charge of the protection of personal information. We will respond within 30 days of receiving it. We may need to verify your identity before acting on the request.
A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a website. We use three categories of cookies:
Essential. Necessary for the service to function: login session, security, language preference. These cannot be disabled.
Third-party content. Embedded maps, videos and forms (Google Maps, Vimeo, Zoho), which may place their own cookies.
Audience measurement. Traffic statistics through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used and to improve it.
Non-essential cookies remain disabled until you consent to them. You may change your choices at any time through the "Cookie preferences" link at the bottom of every page, or configure your browser to refuse cookies, which may reduce certain functionality.
This policy may be amended in order to remain compliant with the law or to reflect a change in our practices. We invite users to review it periodically. Where the changes are significant, we will inform users by email or through a notice posted on the site.
This policy was drawn up in French. The English version is provided as a courtesy translation. In the event of any discrepancy between the two versions, the French version prevails.
